JUNE 08-FUNDS RAISED FOR YORKSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE Thu 19/06/2008 The County Show was on Fathers Day at South Otterington nr Northallerton, the whole day was exceptional - The weather was great - no rain!! beautiful sunshine adding more fun and pleasure to the Shetland Pony Grand National, Bungee Trampolines, Traction Engines, Classic Cars and Motorcycles, Cattle, Sheep and Poultry, Rabbits and Ferrets, Childrens Inflatables, Show Jumping and loads more.On our stand we had Valtra tractors, Joskins Slurry Tanker, CAT Telehandler and new and used Polaris Quad Bikes. We had many customers calling onto the stand for a chat and a drink - a great social day for everyone. For the first time we decided to fund raise for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance - this organisation was suggested to us due to the fact that we work with the farming community and accidents do happen, usually in the most inaccessible of places and with my previous 15 years of operating theatre nursing, I know from professional experience how important it is to get the casualty to hospital as soon as possible. To raise funds we filled a Valtra Tractor cab with 101 yellow balloons, it was a pound to guess the amount of balloons,we raised 279 pounds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and there were 6 correct guesses so we had to re-draw the winning names - the lucky lad was a tractor mad 3 year old from Thirsk and it is his birthday next week! and his Dad got a pair of Valtra overalls and cap so thank you to everyone who supported the fund raiser for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance-we will be doing the same fund raiser at the Stokesley Show in September - see if we can do better! |
